With over 4 decades of equipment, process and product quality diagnostics, and considerable teaching experience, Skip Hartman, ISO Cat IV, is joining the Red Wolf Reliability team as a vibration analysis instructor.

Skip began working in the field of vibration and acoustics while at Newport News Shipbuilding, (submarine construction and overhaul). After 11 years of vibration and acoustic analysis, ship silencing, and rotating machinery diagnostics on US Navy ships, Skip became an employee of Technical Associates of Charlotte. While employed at TA, Skip authored vibration analysis textbooks, provided seminar instruction, and participated in the development of the first comprehensive vibration analyst certification tests. He also set up many condition monitoring programs and provided rotating machinery and structural diagnostic services to a wide variety of facilities worldwide.

Skip served on the American Society of Mechanical Engineers committee for establishing vibration analysis best practices and procedures for the American nuclear power industry. Four years were spent with an instrumentation company for continuous monitoring of rotating machinery, mostly sold by ABB worldwide in the Pulp and Paper industry.

While working closely with ABB, Skip was living in Singapore providing training for end users and the ABB sales organization, providing sales support, and working on product development. The systems were sold and installed in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and China.

Over 24 years ago, Skip established MachineryWatch, his own consulting business, offering many of the same services to customers worldwide that he had offered through his previous employers. As a contractor, Skip continued to teach and work on the development of Technical Associates of Charlotte training courses.

Skip works with BluEyeQ, LLC with product development and remote vibration analysis of machinery vibration data (permanently installed sensing systems). Skip graduated from LeTourneau University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Aviation Technology. Skip has an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics License and is an Instrument Rated Private Pilot. Skip enjoys motorcycles and playing the bass guitar at church and other venues.
